I thought I’d make a page to help people on tumblr! This is a way to get started and a quick way to gain some followers

YOU HAVE TO BE NICE! No matter what the conditions are, always be nice to your followers! There is no circumstance where being mean is the better option. No one likes mean people on tumblr, myself included. I unfollow people who are rude all the time, so stay nice! Always!

BE CREATIVE WITH YOUR URL- First off, you want to have a url that surrounds your theme. Depending on what kind of blog you are, you should make something that will show it off. If you’re a hipster blog, dont have a url that’s something like s-u-m-m-3-r-days. People are going to think you’re a summer or boho blog and hipster blogs won’t check out your blog. If your a cultural/indian blog maybe have something like c-u-l-t-u-r-a-l-flare so people will know what type of theme you are before even looking at your blog!

DON’T CHANGE YOUR URL- This has got to be the worst thing you could do. If you want to change your url once or twice go for it. But once people start to know you, they’ll be like “hey where did i-heart-fashion go?” (or whatever your url is). It’s like starting your whole blog over again because people will have to get used to your url and it takes weeks for people to notice you again. DO NOT DO IT! I’m telling you it’s not worth it.

THEMED BLOG- Some themes are hipster  boho, personal, cultural, black & white, fashion (like me), summer, luxury or whatever you want! It could be based off of a sport, or a certain person! Whatever you really really like, it will make your blog more reliable to follow. If you reblog a bunch of random things, less people will want to follow you. People want to follow blogs they know they will always like. If you’re a theme, they’ll know your a blog they’ll like.

MAKE IT LOOK GOOD!- No matter what you post and reblog about, it’s all about what your blog layout looks like. Your theme displays your personality on Tumblr. It’s like your bedroom, it shows who you are. Yes, your posts have a big part to do with it, but if your theme is unattractive, people won’t want to follow, or scroll through your posts! 

COLOR SCHEME!- Make your blog and theme have a matching/coordinated color scheme! This is totally your choice, but don’t use colors that are going to make someone quickly hit the back button! Most hipster blogs have a black background, and boho blogs usually go white. I prefer black or white just because it gives you the option to change the text color in the description box and other accessories. Don’t have a yellow background with purple letters. First off, that’s totally unattractive, haha, and second people will immediately click off ur blog. Don’t have such bright colors on your blog that will hurt peoples eyes. People want to enjoy your blog, not get a headache!

CHECK IT OUT!- Always ask people to check out your blog! Before this step you have to make sure your blog is at the absolute best it can be. After you make your blog, ask people to check it out! Make sure you read their faq’s though because it really annoys people when people ask things thats in their faq. People make faqs for a reason, use it! Don’t get offended or take it personally if they dont follow you, that just means their either not your style or they just may not like your blog.

REBLOG PROMOS/PARTICIPATE IN PROMO GAMES!- You want to get your url and blog as noticed as possible. If you reblog promos you WILL get ur url out there and you’ll have people check out your blog without you even asking them to! This is how i got alot of my followers and im telling you it works. You’re not going to get any followers just sitting their and updating your blog. You’re url needs to be noticed and it won’t get out their if you don’t try! So participate in these games! It’ll really help!

REBLOG ALOT!!- I can’t stress this enough! This is so important. Make sure you keep reblogging! Whether it’s with queue or not. Some days when i’m at school I use queues and sometimes i don’t. The days that i use queues i gain around 20 followers by the time i get home from school. The days i dont use it i get around 2. YOU HAVE TO KEEP YOUR BLOG UPDATED! I’m not kidding! I unfollow people who havent updated their blog in a week or so. I know it may sound ridiculous but if they haven’t updated their blog in a day that means their not committed to it. Most full time bloggers will agree with me on this. If you’re not active 100% of the time, you’ll lose followers.

ONCE YOU REACH 1000 FOLLOWERS, START MAKING UR OWN PROMOS!- The hard part is over! Getting 1000 followers is hard, I’m not gonna lie. But now followers come a lot easier. Now just because you have 1000 followers doesn’t mean that you can make a promo that says “FIRST 500”. That is not going to reach and it’s a waste of time. Start out small first 5 or 10. More people will want to reblog it because it will get their blog more noticed. IF YOU DONT HAVE AT LEAST 1000 FOLLOWERS do not do your own promos. They will most likely not work, and you won’t gain! 

DO DOUBLE PROMOS WITH PEOPLE!- Make sure you read their faq before asking people for this. Sometimes when I do a double with someone I gain around 30 followers depending on the blog i’m doing a double with. It’s a win win situation because the person you’re doing a double promo with gains followers also! 

MAKE SURE YOU DELETE TEXT POSTS ON YOUR BLOG!- I hate it when i see a really good blog that reblogs good pictures but all the pictures are clogged up with text posts. It makes your blog look really tacky and messy. I understand if your doing a double, p4p and etc. But delete it after 5 minutes or when a persons done with the promo you reblogged and made the lists. I’m telling you it will make your blog a lot more desirable and more people will follow you!

BE ACTIVE!- This is probably like, the most important thing. I know I’ve been saying that for everything, but seriously, being active takes key part! I unfollow people that aren’t active, and I sure as heck know, almost everyone else on tumblr does as well! No one wants to follow someone that doesn’t even go on! Unless you have a legit reason why you’re gone, and you show that on your blog, people will unfollow you! So just be sure to be active all the time, and continue reblogging! <33
